Overview

Join this free webinar to learn about the impact of social, environmental, and economic factors on health and sustainability challenges facing local communities.

More than 80 percent of U.S. residents live in urban areas. But until recently, few measures have been available for cities to assess health, the factors that shape it and the drivers of health equity. That’s where the City Health Dashboard comes in. The dashboard provides city leaders, urban planners, policymakers, community organizations and other stakeholders with an array of regularly updated city- and neighborhood-level data to support health and sustainability-related decision-making.

On March 11, join the Smart Growth Network to learn about the importance of data-driven policymaking and program development and the impact of social, environmental, and economic factors on health and sustainability challenges facing local communities. This webinar, beginning at 1 p.m. Eastern, will feature Shoshanna Levine, DrPH, of New York University School of Medicine, Joshua Franzel, PhD, of the International City/County Management Association and the Center for State and Local Government Excellence and Becky Jo Glover of the City of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The City Health Dashboard launched in May 2018 with data on 37 measures for the 500 largest U.S. cities representing approximately one-third of the U.S. population. Equipped with these data, local leaders have a clearer picture of the health and sustainability challenges facing their communities and how to address them.

The dashboard was developed by a team at NYU School of Medicine, in partnership with the Wagner School of Public Service, the International City/County Management Association, the National Resource Network and National League of Cities, with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
