The City of Gardner is seeking an innovative, engaged, collaborative individual with visionary ideas for the position of City Administrator. The City Administrator oversees all city departments and reports to a visionary mayor and five-member council. The ideal applicant holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration or a related field, master’s degree preferred, and a minimum of five years of municipal management experience or a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and abilities to effectively perform the required duties. The background of a successful candidate should demonstrate strong leadership skills, municipal finance experience, municipal utilities, and outstanding public relations skills. This community-focused leader will promote economic development initiatives, transparency in government and positive intergovernmental relations.

Additionally, the person selected must live within Gardner city limits at the time of the effective date of his or her appointment or within six months thereafter.
