Innovation and Sustainability Supervisor

In this position, you will develop and implement the City-wide Strategic Plan and drive process improvement and operational efficiencies throughout the City. You will also supervise staff and manage activities related to the City's sustainability program, smart cities program (SmartCOS), and contract compliance.

Essential Job Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:
Facilitate the implementation of the City-wide Strategic Plan; engage with the community, Mayor, Chief of Staff, City Council, and all City departments; focus on cross-departmental strategies; and develop and finalize the next strategic plan for implementation in 2020
Facilitate and manage the development of strategic plan performance measures and targets; plan, organize, and manage the strategic plan performance reporting process (ResultsCOS)
Provide oversight and direction to the Ascent Academy - the City's process improvement training, which facilitates and promotes a culture of continuous improvement with the goal of providing more efficient service to our citizens
Perform, plan, and coordinate the identification and development of strategic initiatives and community partnerships
Provide oversight and direction for contract management and special projects
Participate in the preparation and administration of assigned budget; submit budget recommendations; monitor expenditures; and prepare analytical and statistical reports
Conduct a wide array of activities that require extensive planning, organization, analytical, and project management skills
Respond to public inquiries, provide requested information, and connect citizens with City information or resources
Coordinate with City staff, external entities, and consultants
Present information to senior management, elected officials, advisory and special interest groups, partner agencies, and other stakeholders
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
Knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Knowledge of budget preparation and administration
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
Successful candidate will have:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration, public administration, or other field
Five years of full-time professional public relations, project management, or analytical and/or budgetary experience, including two years of supervisory experience
Ideal candidates will also have:
Experience working in a municipal government setting
Experience developing and managing strategic plans
