The Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Director will oversee 21 full-time and numerous part-time and seasonal employees and manage a diverse array of facilities, amenities and service areas, which include:
• Over 640 acres of parks
• Hillcrest Aquatic Center
• Two-rink Larson Ice Arena
• 18-hole EdgeBrook Golf Course
• 135-acre Dakota Nature Park featuring the 5,300 square foot Larson Nature Center
• Municipal forest
• Youth, adult, and family recreation activities and programming
• Bicycle and recreational trails

The ideal candidate will integrate data-driven decision making into facility and resource usage and maximization. An eye toward the future will be critical in aligning community goals with parks, recreation, and forestry services. Key characteristics for success will be exceptional communication skills, innovative and forward-thinking leadership, building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external partners, and navigating high-visibility projects and programs with professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity.

The skills to fulfill the position requirements are typically developed through a bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of progressive leadership experience, but a combination of education, experience, and training will be considered. Salary will range from $81,933 – $110,608 annually.
