Summary

Chester NH is seeking qualified candidates for the newly created position of Town Administrator. Chester is a 300 year old community of about 5,000 people centrally located in Rockingham County, 12 miles from Manchester, 30 miles to seacoast, 45 miles to the Lakes Region, as well as 45 miles to Boston. It is a family-oriented community and is a great place to live, work or start a business. It has a 5-member Board of Selectmen, Annual Town Meeting and is a Municipal Budget Act Community. Chester has a current municipal budget of $4.7 million, not including the county and school. There are 25 full-time municipal employees and 75 part-time, call and seasonal employees.
The Town is seeking a full-time Town Administrator and want an individual with solid emotional intelligence and management skills. The ideal candidate will have municipal experience including with budgets and finances, personnel administration and oversight, project management. The ideal candidate will show excellent ability to work with boards, committees and the general public. He or she will possess excellent written and oral communication skills and computer technology. A positive attitude, demonstrated leadership ability, an open, visible, collaborative and team-oriented management style will be an absolute requirement. A Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or similar relevant field is required; a Master’s degree is a plus. At least three years of experience in municipal government is strongly preferred.
